Thornapple Kellogg High School Sign-Ups for Summer Driver Education
Thornapple Kellogg School District is planning to offer Segment I Driver Education on the following dates:
Session I June 13 – July 3
Session II July 3 – July 25
Students planning to take Driver Education this summer will need to register in the high school auditorium on April 29, 2008. All paperwork (Registration Form and Segment 1 Contract) will be handed out at registration; paperwork and fees will need to be handed in during this sign-up session. The sign-up session will beGin at7:00 p.m.
All driver education openings will be filled through this process. All students registering for drivers’ education must bring a birth certificate and have a parent signature on their application forms.
There will be a charge of $305.00 for students living in the district for Segment 1. There is also an additional cost of $50.00 for Segment 2 which will be offered in January of 2009. The initial fee of $305 for Segment 1 must be paid at the time of sign-ups in order to reserve your child’s placement. All checks for Driver Education should be made out to Thornapple Kellogg Schools. The out of district fee will be $395.00; out-of-district students will only be admitted if there are openings.
Student Requirements for Driver Education:
Ø Must be at least 14 years and 8 months at the beginning of class.
Ø Must have a completed Registration Form and Segment 1 Contract turned in on the evening of registration. (All applications will be handed out at registration.)
Ø All students must meet the following academic eligibility guidelines:Student must have passed at least 4 out of 5 courses taken during the 3rd trimester of the 2007-08 year.
If a student does not meet the TK academic eligibility requirement for driver education, he/she will not be allowed into the program. All fees will be refunded.
The Driver Education openings are limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis. If your child is planning to take Driver Education this summer, you must enroll him/her at this registration session. Parents should enter the auditorium through the door of the high school hallway.

When is the next Segment 1 class for my son who will turn 15 on March 21st of next year (2008)??

My son is 18 years old and he is from Africa and had his license in Africa. Does he need to take both segment 1 and segment 2 before he can obtain a driver’s license?? If so, is there space for him in your classes this summer?? How do I sign him up.
